Men vs Women - Nail Polish Style

For those of you who don't know me, I sort of like to march to the beat of my own drum. I don't mind following rules, but I still embrace my individuality and like to exercise my autonomy when it is appropriate.

Not that it is a big deal, but when it comes to painting my fingernails, I guess this character trait starts to come out. Honestly, I don't put a lot of thought into it. I pick the color/colors I like. Think about what looks good. Paint them. And done.

That's it. There is no magic formula. No secret reason. No method to my madness.

However, this seems to be a completely foreign concept to almost every guy who has commented on my fingernails. Now, before you tune out and think this is a guy bashing session, think again. No bashing is going on, just humorous reflection. People, regardless of gender, can have whatever opinion they would like about my nails - don't care - just don't expect me to change them, because I like them.

Let me expound and give you an example of the typical responses when people notice and then comment on my nails.....

Women: Oohhhh, cool nails!
Me: Thanks!

Men: So...one is red and the other are brown?
Me: Yes

Women: Those are really pretty!
Me: Ah, thanks! I like yours too!

Men: So.....what's the occasion?
Me: Um, I just wanted to paint my nails....

Women: I totally saw something like that on Pinterest!
Me: Yeah? Neat!

Men: So, no specific reason then.....
Me: Nope, just wanted to do something different (But please, continue to ask me the same thing 12 different ways to see if it makes sense - it won't, but it sure is fun to watch you try)

I walked away from those situations with a new appreciation for both men and women.

Guys, thanks for being the type that wants to understand something's reason for being. It is why I call on you when I need help with my car, or I need to make a very practical decision.

Ladies, thank you for gushing with me over frivolous things like nails and shoes. And for letting me be emotional and getting it.

Both types of friends are needed, and I am very blessed to have both types in my close knit circle of friends.

That being said --- I will continue to get a tremendous amount of laughter and amusement from men who try and understand why I paint my nails different colors.... :)

#favor

Luke 1:28
And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

You are loved my dear ones. Loved with an everlasting love. Loved by One who can NEVER stop loving you. You meant enough to HIM, that He sacrificed the one Person who was loved more.

Never think that you are not worth it. Never think that HE doesn't care. Sure, we all have moments when we feel all alone, but He never leaves our side. All we have to do is reach out to HIM and He is there.

So today as you face the world, remember that you are not facing it alone. He has a plan He wants to accomplish with you. It is not a task that must be accomplished on your own, but with HIM by your side.

You are favored. You are loved. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are the creation that He cherished most. The one for whom He bled, died and rose again.

Take faith in the knowledge that He is with you. Hold fast to the fact that He adores you. Never stop seeking Him everyday. For as we seek Him, we are bound more closely to Him and we better know the heart of the One we love.

Embrace the LOVE that has been so freely given to you, and go out and share it with the world.
